Established in 1964 as a unit within the National Capital Area Council (NCAC) Loudoun District, we are the oldest troop in Loudoun County & Proud home to over 75+ Eagle Scouts!

The first meeting of each month is the Scout Patrol Leader Council (PLC) meeting (aka Green Bar). This meeting is the monthly planning session and is conducted by the scouts holding leadership positions, but all scouts and parents are welcome to attend.

Committee meetings are conducted by adult volunteers holding committee positions and parents supporting the troop.

Note 1: The troop provides tents, ropes, and cooking gear
Note 2: Equipment purchases can be deferred until a scout is integrated into the troop and can solicit product recommendations from troop members
What is the level of adult involvement?
Troop 1159 is scout lead but the Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters provide guidance and safety monitoring for all activities. All other adults serve as merit badge counselors, committee members, and additional support to the adult leadership team on an as needed basis.
What is the typical cost of monthly camping trips?
Trip costs vary depending on the associated activities, but range between $25-$75.
Are there fundraising opportunities to offset costs?
Yes! Our fundraising includes First Fridays where we sell paracord bracelets sold by the boys and baked goods, Car Washes, Discount Card Sales, Spirit Nights, and More.
Is prior scouting experience required to join the troop?
No! - New members just need an adventurous spirit and be 11-18 years of age or a rising 6th grader.
